My First Sassy Post - Leonie Neal-Dawson

Hello all and welcome to my first post on the Sassy blog.
I'm really looking forward to sharing my scrapping with all the Sassy readers.
A big thank you to Olga for having me on her wonderful Design Team. :)

NB If you are here for our September blog hop you need to go to this post

For this month I will be working with the lovely range by My Minds Eye - Cut and Paste Flair
You can find the range in the Sassy store-  Here

So this is my first page.
You may just be able to make out our little puppy in this picture!! She was so small
when we got her, not that she's a giant now but I'm sure you get the picture.
The 4x6 Journalling card in this range was perfect with all its 'small' synonyms.

Using this 'small' 4x6 Journal card I cut out all the various words and arranged them across the page
adding dimension to several of the words with foam squares.
Enamel dots are so popular at the moment and I love how the My Minds Eye dots colour coordinate with their ranges.

Green Tara roses are one of my favourite and quite often used embellishments.
I often buy white and just colour them to match each layout.
Like I've done here with the larger rose, I coloured it with the Heidi Swapp Color Shine spray.

My background on this layout is made up of some stencilling with Gel Medium which I
again coloured to match my layout. And there's also stamping with Faber-Castell Gelatos and lots of
droplets of Heidi Swap Color shines

Thanks so much for taking the time to view my work
Below are all the products I've used with links to where you can find them in the Sassy Store.
Cheers for now see you again next week.

Leonie. :)

Curosity Killed the Cat....................

**To join us on our first ever blog hop go here
Curiosity killed the cat......well not literally LOL but this month I am working with Kaisercraft Curiosity collection.
This is such a unique collection with a mix of orange, black & green. They are sooooooooooooo not my colours but I was so drawn to this collection because everything is put together beautifully. There are some really gorgeous images of flowers, birds & butterflies to fussy cut along with some great journal boxes.
It is a great collection to scrap those random family photos & suits both masculine & feminine pages.

To alter the wooden bird cage flourish stamp a background using clear ink & clear embossing powder. Set the embossing powder with a heat gun. Spray Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Black Velvet & Georgia Peach. Set with a heat gun again

The wooden clock flourish was painted with Shimmerz Copper

Welcome to Our New DT member, Our Guest Designer and our first Blog Hop.....

Hello Sassy Friends and welcome to another month of Sassy Scrappin...
So much is happening this month and we are so excited ..
Firstly, we are super excited to introduce and welcome our New Design Team Member
the most lovely Leonie Neal Dawson..
Here is a little about Leonie...

Hello Leonie Neal-Dawson here and I’m very happy to be on the Design Team at Sassy Scrappers.
Thanks Olga for having me and I look forward to creating with the lovely products in the Sassy Store.
Just a little about myself, I'm married to Greg and we have four children together, a boy 12, twin boys 10, and a girl 8.
Needless to say I'm never short of subjects to photograph and scrap about.
Life is busy, should I say a little crazy at times?  But as long as I find time to scrap I feel sane, well mostly!
I have been scrapbooking for over 10 years now and I guess you could say that scrapbooking has forever changed the way that I record and preserve my family’s stories.   I love it more and more everyday. There’s always another story to tell, more product to buy, so really what’s not to love? ;)
Mostly I scrap 12x12 pages and my favorite ‘thing’ at the moment is to create fun mixed media type backgrounds for my scrapbook pages using inks, paints, sprays, stencils and stamps.
I am a Scrapbooking Memories Magazine 'Master' for 2012 throughout 2013 which has been a thoroughly wonderful and rewarding experience.
and I have  also recently been chosen as a Guest Designer at Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft.
Challenge sites I design for include - Scrap Around the World, Show Us Your Stuff, and Scrap for Help.

My blog address is http://leonieslife-leonie.blogspot.com.au/ if you’d like to see more of my work.

Welcome to our team Leonie...xxx

Finnabair Style you can do it too!!!

Good Morning how are you all? Happy Father's Day for all those special men in our lives. Today marks the last day of me showing Prima’s Sunrise and Sunset range... I have really enjoyed creating with this and I am very proud of the work so far for pushing my creativity.  So with that being said I thought it would be a great time to share with you how to do this Finnabair style of scrapbooking.

Step 1 and 2: I am doing a front cover of a journal to make it easier to manipulate and create your front cover, use chipboard. Trace around the front cover and cut to the same size as your journal. Find a 6x6 stencil as your main background feature, texture paste it and dry it with a heat gun.

Step 3: Using another template picking something that adds interest and doesn’t distract from your main stencil, the new Crafters Workshop Well Rounded is a great choice as it has 9 different styles in the 12x12 size template.

Step 4: Don’t forget to do the edges in a random fashion with texture paste. When drying with a heat gun remember to also dry on the underside of the piece this will stop the chipboard warping and the texture paste bubbling.
Step 5: Grab a selection of brass charms, washers and any other metal object that you would like to create interest. Don’t forget ribbons and trims are a great way to add texture. Once you are happy with the position of your objects then stick them down with glossy accents and dry with a heat gun.
Step 6: Paint the whole thing with white gesso this will also allow you to focus on the charms and add to it page if you need more don’t forget to gesso if you add more.

Step 7: At this stage you can have two options; paint with a metallic paint as long as the paint dries with a waxy/ plastic look. If you want don’t want it to be metallic jump to step 8.
Step 8 and 9: Once you have dried your gold layer use Dylusion mists and start with your darkest colour (Brown) and mist the centre of your clusters and then the centre of the journal. Then dry with a heat gun it will make dull down and give you an older look to the gold. Then mist with your first bold colour (red) starting in the bottom LHS corner and also in the centre of the top RHS cluster.
Dry with a heat gun and repeat the misting step with the red again. This allows the colours to be in shades so dull and bright.

Step 10: Use your third colour your highlight colour (orange) find an area that you would like to highlight and allow it to dry naturally.
Step 11 and 12: While waiting on your highlight colour to dry if you have a spiral bound journal paint the edge from the spiral and your edges with gold approx. 1cm and then mist with your 3 colours to help blend your chipboard cover to your journal. Dry with heat gun.
Once that is dry time, to adhere your cover onto the journal, using a lot of Glossy Accents.  To hold into position while you are waiting for it to dry use bull dog clips.
