Project Life | Week 52...

Hello Sassy Friends! Ta-Da!! We've done it.  Completed Project Life 2014.

Today I get to share with you the final instalment of my epic journey of documenting 2014.  Introducing Week 52 | December 22 - 31, using the Sassy Scrapper December Project Life kit.

Week 52 is very photo heavy. The week of Christmas was a time to document traditions, both new and old, and to embrace the craziness of it all.  I have not written any words down on paper. eeeek! There is NO journaling at all. That's right.  You read that correctly.  I wanted to share the time we spent together in photos alone.  It tends to come across as extremely busy and that is because we were. *grin*  We try to cram so many activities in, all in the one week!

So, without continuing on with my spiel, here's a little look into the final week of our 2014.

Thanks for visiting today.  I hope I can continue to inspire you to create more Project Life spreads in 2015.  Let's keep documenting all the amazing events in our day to day lives.  Happy New Year!

Project Life | Week 51...

Hello Project Lifers! Can you believe how far we've come this year? One week out from Christmas and just over one week until we complete our epic journey of documenting 2014.  Today I am honoured to share my Project Life | Week 51 spread with you, December 15-21. Wow! Can I just repeat.... Week 51!!!!

This week I get to document the gift of giving.  It was a week that started with a terrible headline in the news (Sydney Siege) but our personal week ended in triumph and charity.

December is in full swing around our home and that generally means school holidays, visits from friends and fun Christmas traditions.  Week 51 had no expectations of slowing down in our busy schedule.  But as long as I had my iPhone handy, I could still take photos quite conveniently.

This week's spread has been created using the Sassy Scrapper December Project Life kit.  The gorgeous Pink Paislee products are so much fun to work with.  The title pocket card was kept clean and simple, using the ephemera pack pieces as the focus.  The sticker word strip and alphas are the ideal size to create interest, yet retain plenty of white space.

I've also managed to team up more of the ephemera snowflakes with the Studio 40 flair layered on top.  But to prevent it from being lost on the background patterned paper, I've fussy cut one of the Pretty Little Studio label tags and added it below the snowflake.

To complete this pocket and make it more interactive, I've added a mix of gold, black and red sequins.  Everyone loves a shaker pocket right?! *grin*

Unfortunately this week, there have been times where it was just impossible to take photos of every single occurrence.  It has been incredible busy this month and I've been living with a certain mantra/quote on my mind all week.  It's ironic really, having said it was impossible to take photos when the quote I referred to during this time was "it always seems impossible until it is done".

I found the quote on Pinterest and promptly screen shot it so I could print it out. The same principle applies to the photo below.

My daughter had two friends come for a sleepover/Harry Potter movie marathon.  It was a planned 23 hour event (LOL!!!) of non-stop watching and gossiping. And as you can imagine, no 14 year old girl wants their photo taken after such a long girl time session! *grin*  I had to find a substitute image to help me document the start of her school holidays.

There were many lessons learnt this week and I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to share these moments with my husband, children and wonderful, generous friends.  For most of the year, as part of a small group of friends, we have been fundraising, so we can provide a warm meal and a small gift to many of our needy or homeless local families.

It was an honour to be able to serve as a volunteer alongside my 14 year old daughter and husband.  This included setting up and decorating the hall, helping cook the meals and cleaning up afterwards. It was a long, worthwhile day to document.

Our week however, closed with some light hearted fun. We went on a local tour (totally made up by the navigator - that was me!!) to see the Christmas light displays with our neighbours.  We also indulged in some face painting that was definitely relating to the season!

All these activities and more have been documented in a "week in review" style photo pocket, typed directly onto a neutral piece of patterned paper.

I've embellished it with more ephemera from the Pink Paislee pack and a silver foil word strip sticker.  The holly leaves were cut freehand with two enamel dots added for effect.

I just want to take this opportunity, to wish you all a wonderful Christmas this week and to let you know, I'll be back again next week to share the final chapter of my Project Life for 2014.  Thanks for visiting...x

Project Life | Week 49...

Hello Sassy Friends!  Welcome to December!! This week I am excited to share with you, my PL spread Week 49 | December 1 - 7.  Yes.  You read that correctly!  One week ago.  I was so keen to get started with the gorgeous December PL kit that I've actually skipped sharing Week 47 & 48 and moved directly onto recording our first week of December.

During this week, we were ridiculously busy.  We seemed to have had so many events to attend and see to, that I have been left with a very photo heavy weekly spread. To make these pages look less busy, I've reverted to my go-to solution.  Photo collages.

Ninety percent of these photos have been taken with my iPhone.  I have used a smart phone app called Diptic, to create the collages and saved them to my camera roll.  Once my photos have been taken, edited, and added to the Diptic collage, I simply print them out at the 4"x6"  size.  I've also taken the time to keep each event within their own collage, so that the content makes more sense for when we review this week in the future.

At first glance, my spread doesn't seem to have documented the details from our crazy week.  However, my title pocket card has been created to contain hidden journaling.  This 3"x4" Teresa Collins Card patterned paper, has been trimmed slightly on the bottom and then slipped beneath the music sheet patterned paper (found in the mini paper pad).

There is so much happening visually with this week's spread, that I've deliberately created some tone-on-tone filler cards.  I love that the white cards appear fresh and crisp, with small pops of glitter red!

....................................................

On page two, I've shared more images of our decoration process.  December 1st, was a Monday.  This meant that my older three children were at school when my youngest and I pulled out the Christmas Tree.  He was incredibly excited but still patiently waited for his siblings to come home before the chaos.. ahem.. I mean, spirited decorating began!  I love to photograph this process, especially the placement of the star, on top of the tree.  With four children in this household, each year they claim it was someone else who had the honour and they are the one now due a turn.  Thanks to PL and the clear photographic evidence, there can be no further arguments!

The beginning of December also heralds the return of our Christmas Elf.  This year, "Elfvis" arrived superhero style... aka Spiderman.  Complete with mask, spider emblem and web strung from the bedroom door frame.  He also arrived with a welcome note, on which I've journalled more details onto the reverse side.  This note has been included (see above) tucked behind the Pink Paislee ephemera tag.

The above filler card was created using white cardstock and more glitter pieces from the Pink Paislee ephemera pack.  Once again, I couldn't resist adding that fun touch of red glitter and the silver word strip!

Even though our month is busy, I wanted to also remind each member of my family, that December and Christmas time can be a wonderful time of the year. Hence the use of the perfect sticker embellishment from the Teresa Collins Tinsel & Co alphas.

To finish off my spread, I've added the black glitter words found in the kit.  I love that the font is whimsical and tends to portray the idea that the magic of Christmas is approaching.

Stuck for ideas to photograph and document during this month? Or just plainly too busy to think about it? I suggest that you search online and seek out a photo-a-day challenge site/list for December.  This could save you a lot of aggravation and help in the preplanning stages of recording your own December.  Don't forget to add your own personal touch. Good luck..x

Project Life | Week 38...

Hey Everyone!! It's Leanne here today to help you celebrate Project Life Monday.  This week I am sharing Week 38 | September 15 - 21.

This week was the last week of the school term 3 for my three older children and usually at this point of the year, they are all feeling rather tired.  We were definitely looking forward to the upcoming school holidays, but before that occurred, we had a few things to get done during week 38!

Today's spread has been created with more of the gorgeous Teresa Collins Design Nine & Co, and Crate Paper's Notes & Things.

My Week 38 title pocket card was created using the reverse side of the Nine & Co Hearts paper, layered with an horizontal 3x4 cut apart from the Nine & Co Cards paper.  I also added a Studio Calico Label Sticker for the placement of the Kaisercraft Coral Alpha numbers and tucked in a hashtag "wk" from the Studio Calico Essential Alpha Stickers.  I finished the pocket card with a butterfly sticker and a gold foil circle sticker.

The pocket next to the title card contains a label sticker.  I wanted this label to run over the edge of the photo, but instead of discarding the excess, I adhered the leftover part to the adjacent card.  The leftover piece of sticker doesn't distract from the title card but rather connects it to the pocket it sits next to.

I have played with stickers quite a bit over the last few weeks.  Most of the time they have helped create clusters and layers, but sometimes a sticker on it's own can make quite the statement.  The deer head was too beautiful not to be used with these two collections.  This pocket hasn't been overly embellished and symbolically, it reminds me of my own two young "bucks" - Liam & Ethan.  If you note from the main photo of page one, I have even included a number "2" next to the deer head.  *grin* Sometimes there is method to my madness!

Other elements on page one include a little tag pocket, created from the Crate Paper Memo paper.

And journaling typed directly onto another Nine & Co Cards cut apart.

........................................................................

Page two is a little more subtle.  Not so many bold colours and more journaling has been included.  This last week of school before school holidays started was one of celebrating, creating and some waiting...

This week, DD was on crutches.  She could have chosen her timing much better to injure herself (!!) because this week she was participating in a leadership camp with her school.  Three days and two nights of camping (in a tent, not a cabin) with crutches!  Oh the memories!!  LOL!

There was a little drama however, in leading up to her ability to go to camp, so of course what else could I do but document it!  And we had plenty of waiting time in waiting rooms to think about what I was going to write!

The celebration part of the week was much more fun!  Necklace making and finger painting! Yay!

Finally, as the week wound down for us, I went on a Pride & Prejudice binge.  I watched, not only my all time favourite movie but also the BBC tv series of the same name.  It's not often I get a chance to spend the entire day experiencing a movie marathon.  In fact, with four children, it's completely rare that I get to sit down at all!  *grin*  SO for this reason alone, I needed to include this part of my week in my PL spread.

To document my love of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice,
I went to Pinterest and searched for movie posters/quotes.  I saved a copy of the Pin I loved the most to my computer and then transferred it to my photo files to be printed out with the rest of my weekly snapshots.

I hope I have inspired you this week to use a few more stickers on your pages or even add a section about your favourite movie.  Thanks for visiting...x
