Recipe Challenge with Simple Stories.

Hi Sassy Scrappers!
Did you see our August challenge reveal yesterday?
We've decided to mix things up a bit this month and we have a recipe challenge for you all.
Check out the board bellow.

So this Months project must include some thickers, some enamel dots and some water colouring using Mist sprays.

And the super cool prize for this month?!
This months winner will join us as a Guest Designer for October, with a kit valued at over $40.00.

This is my take on the challenge.

Gee it felt good to dig into that rather large basket of thickers and find some to match my page.  I went with three different colours to match the mists I'd used which were Color Shine Sprays.
I used clear gesso on my page first then spritzed with water before adding the Heidi Swapp color Shine Sprays.

The enamel dots I used were from the Simple Stories Summer Vibes Range, as are the papers and stickers I used on this page.

I hope you can join us in August for our recipe challenge.

Cheers Leonie.

Project Life | Week Seven...

Hello Sassy Scrappers!  Welcome to Project Life Mondays!  Today we are sharing Week Seven | February 10 - 16.  This week we are continuing on with our 'details' theme and will look at  embellishments.

During Week Seven our family shared ordinary moments, went camping, celebrated my birthday and noted Valentine's Day.  There was a variety of different situations captured through the camera lens, all with complex visual stimulation.  To combat all of this, I could have easily converted all my photos to black and white images.  But where would the fun be in that?? *grin*

To complete this spread I needed to use embellishments that would compliment the colours throughout my photos, without it looking completely cluttered.

There are many embellishments that can be used on your PL spreads which can add an element of interest without the clutter.  The obvious ones are wood veneers, enamel dots, stickers and flairs.  This week I have concentrated on coordinating enamel dots, stickers and stitching detail.

My favourite stickers to use on PL are simple and elegant words or phrases.  I find that they enhance my journaling without detracting from the white space.  Sometimes even using them in a sentence can break the monotony of your typed/written words and help accentuate the story.  In my Week Seven spread I have used Studio Calico | Printshop Perfect Word Sheet.

This week I have also chosen to work with the Ombre Pink enamel dots by Freckled Fawn.  By adding two of the darker colours to the bottom right Week Seven | page one, it helped to create a visual colour triangle with the top two pockets on the same page.  They don't necessarily help to share the story but the enamel dots do create a colour balance and link between the pockets on the first page.

What did help document my story and was the subtle reminder of being outdoors, is the red flower sticker.  Layering it over both the journaling card and photo creates a visual connection between both of these elements.

On the second page of my spread, I wanted to highlight areas without taking up too much space or adding extra bulk.  I already have a lot of journaling and twelve photos on this page.  To be included, my embellishments needed to be in the form of layers and not so overwhelming.

Immediately I knew I wanted to have more texture on the 3"x4" date card.  My answer was to used some freestyle hand stitching.  The embroidery thread used is in a similar colour to the background of the card.  This was a deliberate choice so it wouldn't appear too busy or distract the eye from traveling across the page.  I also wanted it to blend in but coordinate with the Freckled Fawn enamel dots and the October Afternoon mini alphas.

Apart from word/phrase stickers, arrow stickers are my go-to embellishments for Project Life.  They can easily direct the eye to the most important area in or out of a pocket and won't create extra bulk.  And being a current popular embellishment for both scrapbooking and PL, arrow designs have now come a long way since the original stick figure...which, by the way makes a great template for some beginner free hand stitching.

MME- Cut and Paste Flair by Leonie Neal-Dawson

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Sassy Scrapper Blog.
I spent last weekend scrapping my heart out at a Retreat in NSW.
Gosh I find it so inspiring to be in a room full of people, sharing their ideas (and often supplies) and just generally having lots of fun.  Everyone is always so friendly and helpful to each other.
Do you like to create alone or in a group?

Anyhow I managed to use up nearly all of the My Minds Eye Cut & Paste Flair range of papers
I received in my kit this month.  The whole of the Cut & Paste range can be found here in the Sassy Scrapper Shop.
Here's the layout I'm sharing with you today.

I used one of the journalling cards as the title for my page.  The MME range of
Journal cards are always great if you want to do this.
My background detail is gesso to begin with and then a mix of the Watermelon
and Mint colours in the Metallic set of Gelatos.  I really like the sheen of the metallics, it's a little hard
to see here but trust me it's lovely.

And just some simple Green Tara flowers (one of which I coloured with the Gelatos), a pin from my stash, a MME brad
and some MME Enamel dots as my embellishments.
Thanks so much coming to look at my work.
See below for links to the products I used from the Sassy Shop.
Cheers,

Spring is here..... well it must be I am sunburnt!!!

How are you this fine Sunday morning? The last couple days over here in the West has reminded me that it is Spring, even with a little bit of sunburn from my kids sport carnival on Friday. With that in mind and loving the spring blooms I would love to share with you my latest design team kit from Sassy Scrapper's.... and I am loving this range!!!

Webster's Lets Celebrate.... and it couldn't be more perfect for our first BLOG HOP too!!!!

Cant go past the fussy cut, perfect if your budget wise as it adds instant depth and interest. For me its a thing I do at night time will there are mindless things on TV and the kids are tucked in bed (might have a scrapping obsession but I cant be the only one... Can I?)

A journaling card make a perfect instant title, just cut around the printed shape and add a little foam mount.

To add more interest in your fussy cut flowers add a singular Prima Bloom, it also adds contrast and perfect if your on a budget.

The journaling cards are a perfect thing to add behind your photos either as a photo mat or hidden journaling.

Wondering were I got all those extra blooms....
