Hello and Happy Thursday!
Natalie here again with another creation using the Studio Calico collection, Hey Day
Again I have done a simple page but this time featuring me!
It's so hard to scrap ourselves!
We are always scrapping cute photos of our kids or our loved ones but I challenge you to scrap yourself!
Here are a couple of tips to getting a great photo of yourself!
1. Take a selfie!
Check out Elsie's post here for the BEST tips for taking self portraits!
2. Grab a trusted friend and head out for the day to take some photos - true friends will be honest and with digital cameras, it's super easy to delete the ones you dont like.
3. Give the camera to your kids - they will surprise you!
4. Printing in B&W can be very flattering! Jump onto Picasa and alter your images - it's a free Google Photo editing program that I have been using for years! Lots of brilliant photo techniques!
These photos of me were taken by my trusted friend, Louise Nelson.
Lou sees me for who I really am and has an amazing knack of being able to capture me.
Here are a couple of others that Louise took - see.. trusting a friend to take photos is my number one!
So have a go at scrapping yourself - it's not as hard as it seems!
So now to my layout!
This range is so easy to work with!
I used Mister Hueys Mist in Mint Julep to lightly colour the Pink Paislee mistables - there are ideal for customising an embellishment and again, the Studio Calico Thickers are great for the title!
Well.... Have fun scrapping yourself and I cant wait to see your layouts up on the Sassy Facebook page!

One more layout with Girl land and a wee card!
Just a quick post before I pick the kids up from school. I still had plenty of papers and embellishments left over from the gorgeous Webster's Pages kit Olga send me to make another layout and card. Really loving the colours in this one.
Precious Moments
And a quick little card to finish of the kit. Lots of cutting and layering, the Webster's Pages collections are just great for fussy cutting and layering.
Of course all materials are available here in the Sassy store so why not come and have a browse, there really is so much to see and lots of new things too.
Till next time.
Hugs xx

Sketch Layout - Simple Stories 'Awesome'
Good morning! It's Sam Hauzer here, with a layout based on the fabulous August Sketch here at Sassy Scrappers. I was down to my very last bits and pieces to create this layout, but it's still lots of fun to put together a layout using just scraps. So don't throw those scraps away, you can probably always get another layout out of them! Here's what I've come up with...
Rather than use patterned paper for the circle area of the layout, I just used up some sticker strips to make an outline of a circle, and most of the patterned paper you can see on the page is just small off cuts and strips, but they are arranged so that they look like whole pieces.
The Kaisercraft Flourish Cogs are a fantastic embellishment to use on boy layouts. You can use them just as they are, ink them up a little, paint them, wrap them with twine....there are so many things you can do with them!
And finally, here's the sketch I used...
There's still time to get those entries linked up, and you could win a fantastic prize!
Have a great week!

Have you been hearing alot about Ombre lately?? Ombre seems to be THE next big thing in fashion & scrapbooking trends. A lot of manufacturers have been showcasing Ombre trends & techniques. What is Ombre? Basically it is different tones or colours that shade into each other. I have used Ombre to alter the gorgeous Imaginarium Designs chipboard title Love Cherish Adore. Here is a quick little step by step on how to get THE look of the season!
First start by painting your title with gesso. This gives it a good base & stops your ink colours from seeping into the chipboard.
Choose 3 colours of inks, paints, mists or pan pastels that compliment each other. I chose pink (top shade) lilac (middle shade) & yellow (bottom shade)You will need a light & dark shade of your top & bottom colour. EG I have used a light pink, a dark pink, a light yellow & a dark yellow.
I used a combination of pan pastels & inks. Sassy Scrapper has a gorgeous range of Prima Ingvild Bolme chalk fluid edgers here or Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Inks here which are perfect to use!
Ink the top of 'Love' with a light pink going 3/4's of the way down as you can see in the picture. Ink the remaining 1/4 with lilac.
Ink all of 'Cherish' with lilac
Ink the top 1/4 of 'Adore' with lilac. Ink the remaining 3/4's with light yellow.
Use the dark pink & ink half way over the light pink so now you have 3 colours on 'Love' Dark pink, Light pink the Lilac
Cover all 3 words in some Glimmer Glam or Glossy Accents for a nice shimmer finish

It's a shocker of a day here in Adelaide today - thunderstorms, rain, hail and cold horrible wind! Yuk!
But here is a page using the bright and sweets papers from the Kaiser range, MissMatch
This page was so much fun to create - the beautiful photo made it easy!
Let me introduce you to Miss Emily!
Emily is 5 years old and the daughter of my best friend, Lee.
