Project Life | Week Seven...

Hi there Sassy Friends! I am back this week to share my Project Life 2015 | Week Seven spread, February 16 - 22.

This week I am using the stunning new Simple Stories "I Am" collection and Crate Paper's "Craft Market". The two collections together work amazingly well along side of each other!

Week Seven started out casual enough in our household.  The normal routine was in place and kids were at school.  But then a major weather event decided to take centre place during this time and so life also began to reflect similar traits within my PL2015 pages.

Week day mornings now involve me going into the school to walk my youngest children to their classrooms. Previously they caught the bus, but with my youngest attending school for the first time, I like to see that he is settled before I walk away.  This opportunity has allowed me to capture some great everyday moments that I would never really know about otherwise. Their relationships with school friends are apparent and I am reliving all the hand clapping games they play, as they wait for the school bell to ring.

It was important to me, that I still document the everyday happenings.  My journaling is read very much like a diary.  I printed out my "Week in Review" directly onto white cardstock and mounted it onto a 4x6 card trimmed down from the Craft Market Stitching patterned paper.

The Simple Stories Horizontal Journaling Cards are also ideal to add that extra touch of text, even if it is simply the strips of journaling from the Simple Stories Elements patterned paper.

On page two, the second half of the week was consumed with Tropical Cyclone Marcia travelling along the Queensland coastline.  It was quite a newsworthy event for most people, as we rarely experience cyclonic weather  such as this in our region.

The ephemera pack from Crate Paper provided awesome journaling prompts. The radio image helps to share the story of my youngest son's concerns.  He heard on the news that when a cyclone hits the coast, you should shelter in the bathroom.

I shared this image of him on Instagram, noting his safety measures.  He had even provided the family with pillows and drinks of orange juice while we were to wait out the storm with him.

Me And My Big Ideas (MAMBI) have some wonderful chipboard stickers (currently available in the shop here) which I have used to highlight TC Marcia's track. The image was screen shot from a weather site/app on my phone.

And the dream catcher image from Simple Stories 3x4 Journaling Card paper reminds me of the cyclone itself and was included as a decorative filler card.

In the last pocket, I have included a collage of photos created in Photoshop Elements. These images were taken of our street and the flooding we experienced from Marcia.

Behind this photo I have also included a second image, an aerial shot taken of our local surrounds during this weather event. Sourcing information from weather channels can be very helpful with documenting PL, especially if you are unable to photograph the situations yourself.

Thanks for joining me today..x

Play, laugh, grow

Life marches on to the sound of it's own drum and looking at this photo of my gorgeous niece and nephew, I realise just how quickly time is flying.

Speaking of flying, I have just returned from an incredible teaching experience at Escape2Create in Port Lincoln. Eighty beautiful, creative women all under one roof... You can imagine how inspiring it was! I am so thankful to have been a part of it.

This Crate Craft Market paper has to be seen to be believed. It is amazing! The glitter is actually incorporated into the paper itself. It was very hard not to just squirrel it away in my stash!

I started on the base layer with a large gesso scraping. I am quite enjoying a bit of messiness at the moment! Over that, I have adhered some torn Heidi Swapp lace paper (the triangular one from the pack) and then building up layers from there.

I've fussy cut lots of stars from a sheet of Crate 'Process' paper and used them as embellishments. I have grouped a couple and over the top, I have adhered a sequin frame from the new Heidi Swapp 'Wanderlust' collection. Over the top I have popped some WRMK adhesive sequins (my fave embellie at the mo!)

I cut a Simple Stories viewfinder wood veneer for another project and had this bit to hand. I have coloured it to suit this project using Navy and Mint Color Shine.
Little rhinestones finish off the page.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Wishing you a fantastic weekend!

My Heart - Anita Bownds

Hi everyone,
Happy Thursday !!
Today I'm sharing a layout I created of my best buddy Kush
Doing what he loves most stalking me lol we call it crazy mode cause he runs
Flat stick through the house each morning for about 10 minutes .
....
I started off by choosing the lovely Aqua stripped patterned paper
And trimming my white cardstock down to fit with a patterned paper border
I punched a few butterfly borders on the top and bottom of my white cardstock

And then I machine stitched a border around the edge and ruffled the edges up
I flicked more gold mist across the page adding big and little droplets
Next I started on my layers behind my photo

I really wanted to have the big gold polka dots to be my first layer
Then I added that lovely Aqua patterned paper
And matted my photo on the dark blue polka dot patterned paper

I used one of the memory Dex cards and popped it behind my matted photo
I die cut a doily and added it behind my layers as with my handmade tag
I used a heart template and cut a heart shape out of the middle of the 5x7 lace paper and backed it with patterned paper then I added my title using the sticker and gold foil
And little butterflies with rhinestones and pen trails .

Don't forget our moodboard is ending next Tuesday
Got to be in it to win it!!
