Nae | Heart Day | Planner Dashboard

Hey Sassy girlies, Nae here, back again still posting a few little exciting projects for you to complete my guest design team position for the store. I have absolutely loved designing for Sassy Scrappers. If you are thinking about applying for the design team, you should definitely sign up! Olga is just the most beautiful chicky to work with!

Today, I want to share with you my first page in my new planner for 2017. I have a gold dot Kikki K large planner and I cant wait to fill it with a year full of memories and reminders. The Crate Paper Heart Day is just so adorably beautiful. I don't do themes and even though this was a valentines themed collection, I wanted to show you all today how you can work your products to communicate differently than the theme it was intended for.

I am always so in love with those beautiful planners that are decked out to the nines with beautiful pretty embellishments just waiting in the pockets to be used within the planner pages. I thought I would make a collection of my most favourite cut apart pieces from the patterned paper and a few other little embellishments to try and recreate a pretty collection like the ones in those Pinterest photos.

My title page, or dashboard for the entire planner was not even intended to look like it does now.. I had planned on not using a single photo but as soon as I saw that pretty frame from the ephemera pack, I knew I wanted to put a beautiful photo on there to remind me of what is important in life - family. That little boy is my whole life and I would do anything for that little thing... Yes he may only be my nephew but he may as well be my own child. Just seeing his smile always makes me smile and it is important to have that special person in your life.

I loved fussy cutting out those beautiful florals and hiding them behind a doily to soften them up again the black and white polka paper. Aren't the cactus in this collection just divine? I am in love with those little cacti and need more!! This collection just has me in so much love. It is the perfect pretty pink and girly love! I reinforced the holes on the left side of my page with some washi, I find it is always an easy solution if you don't have pretty hole reinforcers at your disposal.

I hope you have enjoyed looking through the starts of my planner. I hope that I can share with you more planner pages in the future. I would love to see your planner pages for the beginning of 2017! Don't be afraid to use your planner as an extension of your scrapbooking. That is the easiest way to use your planners and not just have them sitting on the shelf looking pretty.

Love you all guys,
Love always,
Nae xoxo

Nae | Bella Blvd - Addison | Planner Layout

Hey Lovelies, Nae here again today and playing with some of the beautifully sassy papers from the Bella Blvd, Addison collection. The collection is majorly a teen girl kind of collection but you know me, I don't stick to any them a paper dictates and I prefer to make the collections work how I want them...

This week I am going to a concert and I am so so so excited. I am a huge fan of Delta Goodrem and I just knew I had to commemorate this week with a beautiful, funky, pink layout..

My planner works as both a planning system and a memory keeping journal. I add in appointments and other important dates in the beginning of the week and then continue to add things that happen throughout the week. This is why my planner pages are never completely full.

Some people are afraid to use their full size ephemera pieces in their planners but in all honesty, it makes your pages more exciting. Don't ever feel confined to the size of your columns for the day. I often over lap tags, labels and embellishments on my pages to connect days and give the entire layout a feeling of fluidity.

I also use labels consistently throughout my layout to connect like events. Work is always within a label and staggered up and down my columns during the week. Even if they are the same time every day... It is just more pleasing to the eye when things aren't all lined up.. Its intentional unorganisation and thats what makes it organised.

In each of my planner layouts, I like to include a little 3x4 insert into the middle of the page just to add a little interest. It can highlight events, provide some motivational words of wisdom, or even hold place for a favourite photo of the week. It is my little piece of space to really create within my planner pages without having a real planning purpose.

I hope you enjoyed that planner layout using the adorable Addison Collection. I will be back next week with another project but for now, I would love it if you jumped over and checked out my process video for this layout. Thanks so much girlies, don't forget to jump over to the Sassy store to grab your Addison pretties!!

Love always,
Nae xoxo

Nae | 12x12 Layout - Crate Paper Gather

Hey Lovelies, its Nae here, jumping in for my very very first happy blog post for the Sassy Scrapper blog. Can I just say just how super excited I am to be working with Olga and the beautiful team at Sassy Scrapper and I cant wait to show you all the amazingly beautiful things I create this month using all the deliciousness that is in the Sassy store.

Today I am experimenting with the beautiful Gather Collection by Crate Paper and the amazingly awesome cut files from The Cut Shoppe.

So something you probably don't know about me, I am a lover of Christmas. Christmas is the one holiday a year I actually really get into creatively, decorating the tree, wrapping presents, baking, and then there is all the family time... Its just the best thing ever. Unfortunately, that is where the celebrations stop. Don't get me wrong, I do document Christmas in my albums, but I don't tend to select Christmas themed papers when scrapping these moments.

So, I decided to take the challenge of scrapping a "Christmas" themed layout a little further and decided to use a holiday themed specific paper collection for a different holiday. The Crate Paper Gather collection by Maggie Holmes is predominately a thanksgiving, autumn themed collection and being in Australia this time of year, we are not in autumn and we don't celebrate thanksgiving. The collection has a heap of mint greens, oranges and coral pinks. I felt it was the perfect combination for this adorable Christmas layout.

We were also really lucky this month to play with some amazing The Cut Shoppe cut files and a super cute exclusive cut file made especially for Sassy Shoppers! How exciting is that!! I decided to go with one of the beautiful Christmas tress from the Deck the Halls cut file collection. The cut file has three beautifully different Christmas trees, giving you plenty of options when it comes to your creative projects.

Once I had cut out the beautiful tree, that looks a little bit like an advent calendar with all those cute little doors, I backed it with a variety of different papers from the collection. When I had finished, I felt the tree just looked a little bare and definitely needed some decorations. I pulled out my sewing machine and stitched gold threaded tinsel in a zig zag across my entire tree. On every point, I added either a gold sequin, gold star, or silver bling from my stash to add a little bauble bling to may page.

I layered a lot of ephemera and white pieces from my stash to build up the layers behind my photo. I love how these autumn like leaves now feel very Chrismassy, almost like the sunburnt leaves we have on our trees in the heat of summer, or the large mistletoe leaves on a Christmas tree.  The one thing I really wanted to take away from this little challenge I made for myself was to not be limited by the theme set within a collection. Ephemera and other themed products are always open to interpretation.

With all the action happening in the bottom right hand side of the page, I needed to add a little something to the top left corner to even things out a little. I used some offcuts of more leaves from the ephemera pack along with a word sticker and some enamel dots just to add a little interest.

I hope you enjoyed this little layout and learnt a few little tips on how to use not only your cut files, but theme specific papers within a different theme. I would love it if you also could jump down and check out my process video for the layout where you can watch me create this entire layout from start to finish.

Thank you so much for all the love Lovelies! I will be back soon with another fun project for you all. Love always, Nae xoxo
