Project Life | Week Four...

Hi Sassy Friends! It's Leanne here today with another Project Life Monday and I am sharing my PL2015 Week Four | January 26 - February 1.    

 

For my spread this week, I've continued to use the Dear Lizzy Serendipity with touches of Amy Tangerine Stitched collections.

 

 

I love the beautiful colour combinations in these collections. And I certainly don't mind using pink ombre hues in pockets next to my boys! This week I have used the patterned papers to my advantage.  I have very few photos, surprising really, considering it was the first week back at school for the new year. But I did want to journal more about the emotions I was experiencing, with not only my youngest starting school, but my daughter becoming a senior in High School, my eldest son starting his High School journey and my middle son moving up into the middle school at Primary. It really was a gargantuan start to a school year and quite frankly, I needed more journaling than photos this week! My process for this spread was to date and document and use the patterned papers to draw attention to my stories.

My type writer was used sparingly.  I found I had too many words and could be more descriptive using the space allocated via my computer. I simply opened up a word document and adjusted the margins to the centimetre size I wanted my journaling to be printed out at. After I filled the space with my text, I inserted a rectangular frame around the outside. The frame borders were then altered to show as dots rather than a fine line. 

 

 

On page two, I've combined several photos into one image.

 

 

But the hero pieces on this spread are the pockets with journaling. For my weekly review, I once again used the computer but highlighted in bold, the day and date text. Each journaling section was printed directly onto white cardstock.

 

 

As it was the first week back at school for 2015, I have included a fun photo tradition. Each year I take an individual photo of my kids in their school uniforms. This year was significant (and expensive!!) as we needed three new sets of uniforms!

 

The clear stickers from the Amy Tangerine Stitched collection were ideal to highlight this photo without covering any details.

 

 

To complete my spread for the week, I have added an extra touch of pink to the second page. The Dear Lizzy ephemera pack flag and wood veneer banner add a little extra detail without overwhelming the overall feel of the spread.

Project Life | Week Two...

Hi there Sassy friends!  It's Leanne here today to share with you another instalment of Project Life for 2015.  Week 2 | Jan 12 - 18.     This week I've used the gorgeous Amy Tangerine Stitched collection along side of the Dear Lizzy Serendipity collection.  

 

On page one, I've made a concentrated effort to focus on the weekly stories. 

 

 

The title  pocket card was created using the reverse side of the patterned paper already there - the one from last week.  I simply added the gold frame from the Dear Lizzy Serendipity Ephemera Pack and some pretty alphas from the Jillibean Soup Alphabeans collections. Every now and then I really enjoy taking advantage of the reverse side of these patterned papers. *grin*  It saves me from over thinking designs and allows me to get on with creating my page.

 

 

This week's spread has been kept very simple.  Right down to applying alphas directly to the photos.  This in itself tells a story.  Especially if it is a photo heavy week.  Below, the alphas "CHA" expound on the photo of my projects wrapped and ready to go to the USA.

 

 

My filler cards have also been kept simple.  I've used some interesting embellishments to help bring the colours from the multiple photos together.

 

 

 

My goal this year, is to write and share more of our story/daily routines.  I love the idea of having a pocket card, reserved just for a "Week in Review". I've typed up my journaling directly to the Amy Tangerine patterned paper and embellished it with clear stamps and strips of paper borders.

 

 

On page two, I've focused on photos.  Since my stories were documented on page one, I was happy to let the photos speak here.  Adding a few embellishment layers helps to highlight fun moments.

 

 

The Elle's Studio circle die-cut mimics the round pocket on my son's school bag but.. the heart expresses his love of finally being able to go to school!

 

 

Another fun photo feature this week, were the before and after shots of my boys' haircuts.  Their hair always grows ridiculously fast and they hate having to have to sit still long enough to have it cut. So it can take a while between visits to the barber! It always surprises me at how much hair actually is left on the floor after the three of them have had their trim. Seeing before and after photos clearly shows the difference!  I pulled each of the six images into one by using my iPhone collage app Diptic.

 

 

Where the story wasn't shared on the opposite page, I used a filler card with a basic message to explain the photo.

 

 

And finally, if there's action to be shared, why not combine several of your shots to create one photo.  Again this collage photo was created using my iPhone and the Diptic app. The photo is brought to life, using some of the cute embellishments from the Dear Lizzy Ephemera Pack.

Dear Lizzy Serendipity Collection

Hello Sassy Scrappers, Leonie back today  sharing a delightfully, bright and happy  page using the American Crafts Dear Lizzy Serendipity range.
How cute is this background paper I've used today?  I Love all those Mason jars with the  various flowers, hearts etc scattered around the page.  I guess this is where I drew some of my inspiration for this page I wanted a scattered random look hence the frames spread out and  various embellishments across my page.

I didn't have any yellow Alphas so I've inked the Kaisercraft white 

Alphas with a yellow distress ink.  Easy Peasy fix ;)

I really like these chipboard frames from Crate Paper so I backed them with some of the Dear Lizzy papers and spread them over the page.
