New Prima Stencils at Sassy Scrappers

Hello to you all, Leonie here today letting you know there are some fabulous new
stencils from Prima Marketing in the Sassy Store.
For the next few weeks, I'll be showing you various ways
you can use these stencils.

Click on the picture below to view all the Prima stencils.
Trust me you'll have a hard time choosing which is your favourite,
there are some really lovely patterns and florals.

Prima 6x6 inch Stencil - Fading Floral

So, on to the technique I used for this Prima stencil.  A fairly easy, non-messy
technique using Distress Inks.

I wanted to use various shades of yellow graduating through to apricot.
I chose these shades to match the photograph and
I think I'm still feeling inspired by our gorgeous March moodboard too,
 with all its yellow/orange shades!

I tested the inks out on some scrap paper to see which shades I would use.

I ended up using three of the colours above, starting with the lightest shade I blended the
ink through the stencil.  Using this small round applicator I had fairly good control over
where the colour was going as I moved the stencil about the page.

NB this stencil is a 6x6 which I prefer generally over 12x12 stencils just because you
get a smaller image.  Of course 12x12 stencils can look pretty awesome too!

Once I was happy with the background I'd created,
I was then free to add patterned papers, my photo and embellishments.
Here's the finished page.

I used the Simple Stories 'I Am' range of papers and embellishments
and added lots of layers.

The title was cut out from some of the patterned paper and stitched on to
the cardstock.

Here are some closeups of the background Prima stencilling.

Below are all the supplies I used from the Simple Stories - I Am collection.
All available in the Sassy Scrapper Store.

Thanks so much for dropping by the Sassy blog.

Cheers til next week,

Leonie.

  1. Oh my goodness, I am SOOOO in love with stencilling right now! I've been putting texture paste through my stencils (= making all sorts of fun mess!) but I think I'll get my Distress inks out now to create new card backgrounds. Thanks heaps for the inspiration Leonie!!!

    1. Oh Deb, it's so good to hear someone getting so much enjoyment from stencils. They're so fun right?!
now you have something else to try with them- not as messy as texture paste but you can still get some fab results. Keep on having fun! :)
