Agnus | Life in Color

Hi again :) As you know I have been using the fabulous Simple Stories 'Life in Color' collection in my project life album, and because this range has so many fun pieces I couldn't help also using it to create a 12x12 layout for my little guy who recently turned six.

I combined a couple of the full patterned sheets with some gorgeous gold foiled vellum from Crate Paper's Wonder range to create a pieced background, then added several of the cut apart papers to create my layers.

I love to use embellishment clusters to help tell the story on my pages and focused these around the chipboard frames from the collection, adding a mix of stickers, brads and enamel dots for some extra interest and dimension.

Here's a link to all the 'Life in Color' items I used from the store...

Project Life Catch Up | Agnus

Hi again :) Agnus here with another catch up post from my 2016 project life album. I am happy to have completed the final week of January, once again using the awesome Simple Stories 'Life in Color' collection from the store.

A lovely friend recently asked me "how do I get my photos to match the products I am using?" and it made me think about my process and realise that because I document each year on a weekly basis  it is often hard to try and predict what sort of colours will appear in my photos, so instead of trying to plan my pages according to the pics, I will instead select a few key colours or patterns from my products that compliment several of the photos then repeat those colours across the pages to achieve a nice flow and allow you to pretty much make any range of products work in your albums.

For these pages, I repeated the grey wood grain pattern as well as the teal crosses across the entire spread. I also used a few pops of red as well as my 'go-to' combo of bold black and white to help tie it all together.

I am also mindful of which cards or accents are placed directly next to each photo and often spend a bit of time shuffling everything around until it all feels balanced.

I used various pieces from the Sn@p! Card pack as the foundation for this spread and loved that this collection includes a variety of textures and I was able to use a mix of paper and card stock stickers with chipboard and enamel to create more depth on these pages.

Stitching is always a good way to add some extra detail to your pockets, and the designs in this range were perfect for this.

I used a few simple paper and sticker layers to create a custom card for my journaling.

Design Team Introduction - Agnus Kasprzak

Hi :) you might have noticed that in yesterday's post, the lovely Leanne Allinson mentioned that she is changing focus and will be creating layout and mini albums this year and that might have left you wondering what will happen to the Project Life posts? Well, that's where I come in and am very excited to announce that I have joined the Sassy Scrappers team and will be sharing lots of pocket page goodness throughout the year!

So let me introduce myself... I'm a proud mumma of 3 boys aged 5, 13 and 19 who make everyday an adventure to say the least. I have been scrapping for over 12 years and discovered Project Life around 4 years ago and quickly became hooked as I began telling our story by recording all the little moments from everyday life.  I have a clean scrapping style with a love of layers and embellishment clusters and hope that you will enjoy my passion for Project Life each month.

I like to document the year on a weekly basis, and have been playing with the gorgeous Simple Stories 'Life in Color' collection from the store to record all the details from week 4.

The colours in this range are definitely some of my faves, and the bold black and white prints made it very easy to use the range with a variety of photos. The die-cut accents from the Sn@p! Card pack were great for layers and the Adhesive Brads and Chipboard Frames were perfect for adding extra impact as well as varying the depth and texture in some of the pockets.

I use a simple 'Bohemian Typewriter' front to journal onto my cards, and even though I don't always add embellies to all of my pics, the fabulous pieces in this collection made it hard to resist adding a little pop of extra colour to each pocket.

I often try to repeat one element across both pages to create a nice flow from page to page, and have done this here with the use of the circle accents in several of the pockets.

I varied the printed journaling by printing some of it directly onto my photos and journal cars, and using journal strips to record more details.

I've noticed that when using a 3x4" photo in the horizontal pockets, I often try to create a visual connection between the journal/filler card and the photo by overlapping some of the accents onto both pieces and as you can see I totally loved the Enamel dots and had fun adding them to many of my pockets.
