Foil all the things!

Hello Sassy Friends!

I realised this week that I might have a small problem when it comes to foil. And not the practical kind!! My little girl celebrated her a birthday this week and one of the gifts she received was a Create-a-Sticker type thing, using foil sheets. I had to physically restrain myself from relieving her of the rainbow sheet that came in the box! Hehe.

The Heidi Swapp Minc will seriously change the way you look at crafting. Being self-employed, I am all for trying a DIY version of anything first. I will admit to trying the laminator thing, and I can say that I found it to be a pain in the proverbial. I know there are lots of reviews out there using them, and lots of them look like they work. Personally, I tried for over an hour to get one thing to foil using my laminator, and of about 6 attempts, it only got 1 almost right. When I got to babysit the Minc, the FIRST time I put the paper through, it foiled perfectly. So the reports about the multiple rollers, distributing the heat evenly must be the advantage. If you are thinking about putting this machine on your wishlist, do it, you won't regret it!

Circular Color Magic butterfly has been misted with 'Raspberry' Color Shine. Such a yummy colour!
So the basis of this project is a Heidi Swapp Wanderlust Floral keepsake album. It consists of a beautifully foiled, sturdy presentation box, and inside, an accordion fold album, which you can decorate yourself.

The front of the box has a magnetic seal, which prevents your creation from falling out. On the top of my box, you'll notice that I created a gift 'ribbon' using some papers from Heidi's Mixed Company collection as well as some gold foil Punchinella vellum (which I have been hoarding!) You can create a paper ribbon yourself by searching for ribbon tutorials on Pinterest.

I wanted this album to be an uplifting gift, so I searched for some inspirational quotes online. I then went about setting the text in a word processing programme and printing the squares off onto 'Mixed Company' 6x6 sheets, using my laser printer. I cut some foil to size and fed it though the Minc machine on setting number 3.

Tricky to photograph, 'Hello Sunshine' is set in gold foil.

The lower section uses a large British Paints swatch (very handy for card making!) with a leftover Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss insta card over the top. A little Heidi Swapp lace paper over that with a couple more embellishments.

Another way you can foil without heat, is to try out the ready to use Foil Kits. Super simple to use, you: 1. Simply select the sticker you want to create with, 2. rub it on to your project and peel off the acetate backing. *The sticker will feel tacky. * 3. Now take the foil supplied in the pack and rub it over the sticker area. 4. Gently peel off the foil to reveal your foiled sticker!

The shaker pocket was created using a plastic page protector sleeve which I cut to size, then sealed shut, using my WRMK Fuse Tool. Before I fused the top, I popped in some sequins and embellies. Tip: Adhere a couple of the items inside a shaker in place, so not everything falls around when it's moved.

The quote below is from dropdeadgorgeousdaily.com. It was actually black with white text, and I inverted the colours in Photoshop, (to make it black text on a white background) so I could colour the text with pink foil.

There was a gap between the word 'amazing' and 'remember that' so I filled the area with an ampersand and a stamped 'brilliant' sentiment.

'Brilliant' is stamped in Hero Arts Ombré 'Navy to Pool' and is from a HS mini stamp set, along with the 'don't forget'.
The final section of the album has a mandala motif which I Googled and printed off onto cardstock with the laser printer. This one has been foiled in hot pink and, over the top, I've popped another foiled pineapple print card from the Citrus Bliss insta card pack and a few ephemera.

This is what the album looks like when fully opened.

I often wonder if what it is my mind, comes across ok in a post. If there is ever something that you would like explained further, or a demo of something, please feel free to drop us line, or comment here or via Facebook and I will do my best to accomodate.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!
