Fly High Mixed Media Tag by Farrel Tailor

Hello and happy Thursday everyone!!!  Today I am sharing with you all my very first mixed media tag. I had so much fun creating this tag and can't wait to create some more!! There is a process video at the bottom of the blog if you would like to see how I created the tag.

To create the tag, I used the packaging from a 2 minute noodle box and covered it with Prima Rose Quartz - Grateful Heart pp. 

Then using the dabbing technique I applied the following Distress Oxide Inks - Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, Abandoned Coral and Wild Honey. (I stamped the inks onto my craft mat and spritzed with water before dabbing and dried in between colours)

Once I was happy with the colours for my background, I then used the font stamp from Darkroom Door Hummingbirds set. Using the same stamp set, I stamped the hummingbird and leafy branch onto some white cardstock and used Lindy's Stamp Gang Embossing Powder - Black Forest Black.

I then cut out the hummingbird and using a waterpen, I then applied Distress Oxide Inks Seedless Preserves and Salty Ocean to my hummingbird and applied some cheesecloth to the back.  I then inked around the edges of the tag using Distress Oxide Ink Black Soot. 

After adhering my stamped bird, I then stamped "Fly High" which is from the same stamp set and added some splattering using Dylusions White Linen Spray.

And there you have it..... a mixed media tag!!!  I hope I have inspired you to create something special.

A Grateful Heart Mixed Media Layout by Farrel Tailor

Hello and happy Thursday!  I'm back today with another layout using some more of Vicki Boutin's Mixed Media range.
As I have 3 boys, it's very rare that I get to create a girly page so I was super excited to create this layout.....so here it is.

I will give you a quick run down on what I used but you can click on my video below to see how I created this layout.

The papers I used are from the Prima Rose Quartz range - Midnight Beauty and Grateful Heart.

I started off by applying a light coat of Dina Wakley Media Clear Gesso  all over Midnight Beauty and dried with my heat gun.

To create my photo mount layers and title I cut out various sections from Grateful Heart patterned paper.

I then used Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Stamp and Stencil set - Floral and black archival ink to stamp onto my background.

I next use the Vicki Boutin Art Crayons to draw onto my mat and using a wet paint brush I mixed the crayon so that it turned to a watercolour paint and apply to my layout. 

Once that's dry, adhere my photo mount and die cuts from the Vicki Boutin Ephemera Die Cuts with Gold Foil. I also use the art crayons to add some colour to my Prima Flowers - Kimberly.

Once I have adhered everything I then use some Diamond Glitter Glue to highlight the die cuts. And there you have it another layout done.

New Beginning Art Journal page By Farrel Tailor

Hello Lovelies!!! I'm back today to share with you all my mixed media art journal page I created using Dina Wakley Heavy Body Paint and Darkroom Door Grunge Stamp Set.
So let me step you through the process and there is also a process video at the end for anyone wanting to see how I created it.

I started by lightly coating my page with white gesso. Then using a dry brush I applied Dina Wakley's Heavy Body Acrylic Paints - Magenta, Fuchsia, White, Turquoise, Lime, Lemon and Black. (All products are linked to the store.) I used my apron to wipe off the access paint as I didn't want to have a wet brush....using a dry brush gives you the amazing brush stroke texture to the paint.

I then used Dylusions Stencil 5 x 8" Modern Script stencil with Turquoise paint and applied it using my mini blending tool. I also sprayed the stencil with water and used the reverse side as a stamp.

Next I used Darkroom Door Grunge Stamp Set with my acrylic paint and stamped onto the page.

Once it was dry I then cut out my butterfly which I printed on my computer using a free printable from Pinterest. I adhered the butterfly using Prima 3D Gel Medium.

I used the acrylic paints to add colour to the wings on the butterfly and mixed my black and white paints with a small amount of water to add some splatters. The reason for adding water to the paint is because the paint is heavy there is no way I could splatter as it, do diluting it with water allows you to use this technique. I used a small paint brush for the splatter.

Last of all I used a stamp set in my stash for the sentiment and there you have it...another art journal page!!!

Crate Paper and Gelatos page layout with Video Tutorial

Hello Scrappers, Leonie here today.

I'm sharing a lovely page I created using the delightful Flea Market Collection by 

Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper.

I've teamed it up with a background I made using Design Memory Craft Gelatos.

pink paislee Cottage Farms - Anita Bownds

hi everyone, welcome to a new month of inspiration  Anita here sharing a layout using pink paislee  Cottage Farms  and some wonderful shimmerz paints and a few stamps    i first thing i do when creating is i find a photo that inspires me with the paper i know it sound a little silly but it works for me .  and i am a mood scrapper so i was feeling in a messy stampy mood  

 as the simmerz paints are thick.   i like to put some in a paint palette and add a few sprays of water with a mini mister so it gives the look of water colours with with a whole lot of bling
