Prima Marketing Instascrap Collection

Hello to all our Sassy readers.   Leonie here and it's great to be back again today sharing a

page created with the lovely Prima Marketing Instacrap range.

Today I've used the ATC cards to layer behind my photo.

The ATC cards come in a handy pad of 60 with 20 different designs.

Great to use for layering as I have here in place of 12x12 pieces of Pattterned paper.

I've also used Color Shine sprays in two different ways today, so read on.

The Instascrap range also has sticker packs.  And you can see the 'enjoy' epoxy stickers here.

There is one sheet of epoxy stickers and two sheets of vellum stickers in each pack.  Enough to do lots and lots of projects!  I've also included a cute little Studio Calico paper clip that has a lovely 

matt gold finish.  From the essentials range HERE.  There are lots of these cute little embellishments in the Sassy Scrapper shop.

I didn't have any flowers that were a match for my page so I used these Prima Interlude flowers that are shades of turquoise and sprayed them with Heidi Swapp color shine to get shades of lime!!

I also used some resins from the Prima Marketing - there are a large selection 

available HERE.  The resin corners also got a spray with some Color Shine.  I didn't know weather the spray would adhere to the resin but apart from taking a while to dry it's still holding the colour.

Good to know. 

Last of all a close up of the background. 

 I used Color Shine sprays again.  This time to colour two small amounts 

of texture paste and applied it through the Prima Stencil

to achieve a two-toned effect on the roses. 

The leaves are done with the stencil and distress inks.

52. Cut a piece 6"X4" from the Prima Something Blue Goin to the Chapel paper. Adhere to the last small flap.

54. Fussy Cut the True Story Journal Box from the Something Blue Say Yes paper. Stitch a border along the edge.

55. Attach a Black Tag  from the Something Blue Tag & Ticket set to the Journal Box using a Typewriter Key Paperclip. Staple a Perfect Day ticket to the Bottom of the Journal Box.

56. Adhere the Journal Box to the right of the small flap.

57. Adhere an I Do Flair Button below the Perfect Day Ticket

 

58. Cut a piece 8"X6" from the Something Blue Love Melodies paper. Adhere to the last page.

59. From cardstock cut a piece 12"x 4". Score every 4 inches & fold. Adhere the under side of the top section to the top left corner of the page.

60. Cut a piece 4"X4" from the Goin to the Chapel paper & adhere to the top section of the fold out cardstock.

61. Fussy cut Forever starts today box from the Just Married paper & adhere to the 2nd section of the fold out cardstock.

62.Cut a piece 4"X4" from the Enchanted Blooms paper. Adhere to the last section of the fold out cardstock. Adhere a photo approx. 3.5"x3.5" in the centre. Adhere a Mr & Mrs flair button to the top left corner & the bottom right corner.

63. On the reverse side of the fold out cardstock Cut a piece 4"x4" from the Love Melodies paper. Adhere to the top section of the foldout cardstock. Adhere the I Love You chipboard piece to the top & a rectangle chipboard frame in the centre. Adhere the Dove resin to the centre of the frame

64. Cut a piece 4"X4" from the Goin to the Chapel paper & adhere to the bottom section of the foldout cardstock.

65. Adhere a photo approx 4"X2.5" to the bottom section. Adhere a strip of ribbon along the bottom of the foldout section.

66. Adhere a photo approx 2.5"X3.5" portrait size to the bottom right corner of the back page. Adhere the resin joined hearts to the top right corner of the photo. Adhere the black flair button to the bottom right corner of the photo.

67. Using the American Crafts Gold Glitter Alphas adhere a title/word to the bottom left corner of the page.

68. Adhere a strip of ribbon along the join of the back page & flap

Project Life | Photo Tutorial...

Hi Sassy Friends.  This week I am sharing with you how I take photos of my Project Life spreads.  It involves a few extra materials but if you can source these simple items, I promise you it makes all the difference! *grin*     **Please keep in mind that I am not a professional photographer but I have, through many trial and error processes, become reasonably happy with the final outcome of my photography results.**   To create less glare reflecting off the plastic pockets from your spreads you have two options.  One, remove all the pocket pages from their sleeves and reposition on white cardstock, as they would be presented in your spread... (Ummm!  No thank-you!!) or two, grab one piece of white cardstock, a large piece of white box cardboard (I was lucky to salvage my piece from my days on the Kaisercraft DT, but you can easily paint the side of a box white), and a flat box surface (I use my box of Becky Higgins Page Protectors.)   Having white cardstock and a white backing board is essential.  The backing board reflects the natural light, limiting shadows and the white cardstock allows a clean base for your spread to be photographed on.   This is how I set up.  

  Sometimes, I will use our outdoor table to set up on and rest the white backing board against a random toy left within my reach!  LOL!  It really doesn't matter what you prop your backing board up with, as it wont be seen in the final photo.   Firstly, I will always try to take my photos in natural light.  I usually take my photos under our patio.  It still provides plenty of natural light but I'm not in the direct sunlight.  Inside near a large window will also work.  It will depend on the time of day as to when you will get the best results.  This is where you can experiment in your own space.  If you have the time, it is worth taking a photo of the same project, at different times of the day.  You can then compare the images to see what works best for you.  

Next I line up my project life page with the cardstock.  Here's a little tip: I use the Kaisercraft coconut white cardstock, because it is slightly larger than the other 12"x12" sheets.

Finally, I take my photos from directly above.  If you can manage to get as square a shot of your project as possible, it saves plenty of time working in Photoshop! LOL!  But don't worry, I am going to share my Photoshop tips as well.  Notice in the above image, there is very little glare reflecting off the protective sleeve?  The white backing board has done its job! *grin*

    Once I transfer my images to the computer, this is where I feel the magic is created.   Step 1.  I will always play with brightness and contrast.  At the top of your Photoshop Elements screen, click on "Enhance" and hover your mouse over "lighting".  Click on "brightness/contrast".  Manually adjust the levels until you are happy with the results.  Alternatively, you can click on "auto contrast" but I find the manual method gives better results.  

Step 2.  Time to crop.  Crop your image but leave a considerable border of extra space in the crop.  This will allow you to have room to play if you need to get your image square.

Step 3.  Click on "Filter" at the top of your Photoshop screen and move the mouse down to and click on "Correct Camera Distortion".  Your image will open up in a new screen.

 

Step 4.  Move your mouse to manually adjust the "Perspective Control" either vertically or horizontally.  Slight increases/decreases on these slides will straighten your image.  Please be patient and use a gentle hand, it will take some practise!! I know!  *grin*  The grid overlay is extremely helpful in gaining a square image.

 

If your image also looks to have bowed edges, use the "Remove Distortion" slide bar to alter.  Again this slide needs only to be moved in small amounts.  Once you are happy with the image, click "Ok" and the screen will return to Photoshop.

Another tip: At this point,  I will also use the "straighten tool" in the Photoshop side bar in conjunction with the "perspective control".

Step 5.  Re-crop your straightened image and save to your photo files.  Now you have a base image to work off.  Editing, such as colour cast correction (making your images have a pure white look rather than a blue or orange tint) and resizing can now be used to finalise your image.     For this tutorial I have used Photoshop Element 8.  Each edition has a variation to the last, but most editing tools should be in a similar position.  If you have any questions please leave them in the comments section below.  I'll be back soon with more photography tips and hints.  Thanks for visiting today..x

Hopefully the week and new school term has been a soft transition! It's not often that I scrap without journalling, but this photo says enough for me. One of my favourites of my beautiful girl and me, enjoying a cuddle (outside, plan spotting on the trampoline!)

I'm rather smitten with scattering things at the moment. This Studio Calico Lemon Lush paper was crying out to be fussy cut! There are a couple of different elements on the page, one being a dry embossing technique which I used with one of the cut butterflies. I will be going into detail on this next month.

 Love a luscious title? I would like to share my technique with you!

Firstly, set up your title in a word processing programme. Because my printer can only print A4, I have made this layout 8.5 x 11 so I can print directly onto my patterned paper. Give your title a colour that is similar to the end result.

Once you've printed it off, go over the wording with some embossing ink. I use the liquid version as I find it easier to use.

You can go over the whole title in one colour, or you can try using multiple effects or colours. Just apply them one and a time.

This is the end product after heating - fab!

The Evalicious range in store is totally awesome. These flair have been a fave!
